  • About
    Prof. Josemon Jacob received his PhD from Iowa State University, USA where he worked on various aspects of catalysis under the guidance of Prof. James H. Espenson. Subsequently, he did postdoctoral studies initially at the University of Rochester, USA (with Prof. William D. Jones) and then at Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany (with Prof. Klaus Muellen). In 2006, he joined the Centre for Polymer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi where he is currently a Professor. Our group has broad research interests in the area of polymer synthesis with current focus in the areas of semiconducting polymers, biodegradable polymers and catalysis.

  • Research
    Ours is a polymer synthesis group with research interests in new material development for diverse applications. The group is very active in the area of semiconducting polymers and aims to tune properties of materials through chemical modification. Recently, we have developed new classes of conjugated polymers based on bisbenzothiadiazole, quinoline, biquinolines, cinnolines, diazepenes etc in our lab for various optoelectronic applications.
    We are also developing biodegradable polymers from readily available materials for biomedical applications. Special emphasis is on the control of surface functionalities through simple chemical techniques.
